West Roxbury [Boston]

Originally part of the town of Roxbury, West Roxbury formed its own government in 1851 and was annexed by Boston in 1874. Bordered by Roslindale and Hyde Park, West Roxbury’s main thoroughfare is Centre Street, lined with local restaurants and commercial establishments.

At West Roxbury's gateways ~ Centre Street and Spring Street - visitors are welcomed to a neighborhood shopping district lined with local restaurants and small businesses.

Discover boutiques selling one-of-a-kind treasures and a toy store selling games, next to the big chains. Needs some exercise? Bowl a string, relax with yoga, or take a martial arts or fitness class.

Millennium Park, the largest park in the City of Boston was created in 2000 on top of the Gardner Street landfill. With its three large fields, playground, expansive nature trails, and boat launch at the Charles River this park is used year round for organized sports including lacrosse and soccer, walking, hiking, fishing, sailing, and canoeing.

The neighborhood's tree lined streets and mostly single family homes give it a suburban feel in an urban setting. Life in the neighborhood centers on political and civic activism as well as school activies and youth athletic leagues.
